Choose your camper's floorplan wisely...
Floorplan is everything when it comes to your choice in camper
Whether it be a Laredo 250BH or the Hideout 28RKS you have a way to understand the floorplan of each one before seeing any pictures. The letters at the end of the model usually define the layout such as "BH" which stands for BUNKHOUSE or "RKS" which defines a REAR KITCHEN floorplan.
Most will tell you that the model number depicts the length of the unit but this is mostly not the case in today's Camping World.
Due to slight changes in campers/floorplan over the years, companies have started to adjust model numbers according to new design so they can better help their customers in an event of needing Parts or Repairs. They haven't changed the letters that define the floorplan though. So let's give a few more examples:
Passport 2520RL is a REAR LIVING floorplan which would have your living room area located in the back of the unit.
Hideout 262RES consists of a REAR ENTERTAINMENT floorplan giving your rear living area emphasis on television and sometimes stereo.
Laredo 225MK would define the unit as having a MID KITCHEN floorplan which is where you can cook some campground culinary favorites.
Falcon F-Lite 18RB is a super lightweight REAR BATH floorplan and it's perfect for a quick camping trip.
Passport 199ML are great for pulling and defines a MID LIVING floorplan.
Laredo 340FL depicts a FRONT LIVING floorplan which is an "in house" favorite here at Legacy Recreational Vehicles.
Falcon F-23TH has the TOY HAULER floorplan and you can read more about this unit by clicking here.
We are in hopes that this little article is just what you were looking for when it comes to help with your floorplan. It will at least help you navigate through the massive amount of camper floorplans and hopefully by clicking on any of the links above you see just what you are looking for.
Does the model number define the length?
Not exactly...
Please remember that the number that defines the camper is most likely not the "length" of the camper. It is very common that these numbers are misused in this way and can cause misinformation to be spread.
EXAMPLE: Let's take the 2019 Fuzion 373 for instance. The model number is 373 so one would assume that this is 37 feet in length but it's just not the case. 40 feet is the actual length of this unit so be sure to verify this to prevent unwanted surprises.
Just because model numbers do not depict length on some, doesn't mean that companies such as Travel Lite RV are not using these numbers for that purpose.
EXAMPLE: With every unit in the Travel Lite RV Falcon series the numbers do reflect the length of the unit while rounding up to the nearest foot length. The Falcon F-Lite F-14 actually measures at a 13 foot 6 inch length so FL-14 is a reflection of the actual length of the unit.
Now that we've cleared the air a little we are in hopes that you informed and have a better understanding of what you're looking at in regards to layout and length. These two things combined with weight are the top factors to weigh in while deciding which camper floorplan is best for you and your family.
Here at Legacy Recreational Vehicles our overall goal is not only to provide top notch camper service but to offer our Campers several different options when it comes to different floorplans.
